DIGUP•TV IS BORN
Bon voici un nouveau petit bébé qui vient de naitre, Digup est un projet éditorial indépendant, une revue documentaire en vidéo HD. La création numérique invente de nouveaux langages graphiques, audiovisuels et interactifs. Elle change notre manière de voir le monde. Digup va à la rencontre des talents, entre dans les studios et décrypte les démarches créatives. Digup est emmené par une équipe de designers interactifs et de documentaristes français. Faisant partie de la rédaction pour l’instant et plus si affinités ;-), je me devais de vous en parler et tirer un grand chapeau à l’équipe qui a fait un gros boulot pour que ce projet voit le jour. A new baby is born, Digup is an independent editorial project, a video documented review. Digital production creates new graphic, audio-visual and interactivity languages. It alters the way we see the world. Digup•tv goes and meet talents, enters studios and deciphers creation processes. Digup is taken forward by a team of interaction designers and French documentary makers. Being part of the redaction and more in the futur I had to present you this project and make a big up to the crew. READY TO WORK…
Bon je suis un peu silencieux suite au crash de mon ordinateur il y a quelques semaines. J’ai eut peur d’avoir perdu beaucoup de choses, heureusement pour moi ce n’était que la carte mère qui était morte et non pas le disque dur. Bref dans mon malheur j’ai adopté un nouveau MacBook pro qui m’a permis de reprendre les pirates et les autres projets en cours. Bientôt du neuf ;-)
Sorry I’m quite on my blog, because I crashed my computer few weeks ago. I was afraid because I thought I lost everything but it was only a mother board porbleme
and nothing was destroyed on the hard disk. In this misfortune, I bought a brand new Macbook pro to help me on pirates and the other projects. New things soon

TOUJOURS EN CHANTIER
Bon depuis quelques mois les gens me demandent où en est ce projet de pirates, bah figurez-vous que nous travaillons toujours dessus, mais le temps nous manquant nous ne pouvons travailler dessus qu’au compte-goutte.
Mais je vais vous faire une promesse, que je vous vois déjà me ressortir en 2010 : ” Je promets solennellement de finir ce pilote d’ici la fin 2009, croix de galions en bois , croix de sabres en fer, si je mens je vais au Valhöll”
En attendant, une petite affiche avec notre casting de rêve. Bientôt du neuf promis
Since few months, a lot of people asked me about the Pirates project. I have to admit we don’t have lot of time to work on it, but when we have time we had few pieces. I gona make you a promise, I’m sure you going to send me back in 2010: ” I swear, I will finish this pilot before end 2009, if I don’t finish it I will go to Valhöll”

LEXUS
Vive le vent, vive le vent, vive le vent d’hiver qui s’en va sifflant, soufflant dans les grands sapins verts… Voici un spot de saison pour Lexus Automobile, mettant en scène une famille en quête du sapin ideal pour Noël, mais cette quête se révélera au final être tout autre. Ce spot puise sont esthétique dans les peintures japonaise d’Hokusai pour ses décors nocturnes au paysages blancs immaculés et s’inspire du travail de Charley Harper et des affiches art Déco pour le côté stylisé et grahique. Ce spot a été réalisé avec un mélange de papiers découpés, de dessins, de peintures et de textures.

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way! O what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh… Here is a holiday spot for Lexus automobiles called “Bow Farm.” The spot features a family journeying to find a tree for the holidays, but finnaly… Traditional Japanese painting inspired the look of the spot. Using with landscapes covered by snow and pastel colors with splashes of red to highlight some principle elements, we are dropped into an idyllic and magical winter wonderland. I was also inspired by the work of Charley Harper and art deco posters which also lent to the poetic tone and made the spot look more graphical. The spot was created using paper cut outs, paintings, drawings.

PAUL STEEL
Voici un clip pour Paul Steel, un chanteur de pop anglaise. Il s’agit d’un clip petit budget mais super libre créativement. Le concept était de créer les 10 clips de son nouvel album avec 10 différents réalisateurs, Passion Pictures a donc pris le projet sous son aile, et plusieurs réalisateurs dont Chris Hemming, Thomas Hicks, Dan & Jason, Dimitri Stankowicz, etc… ont au final travaillé dessus. J’ai pour ma part hérité de la chanson “School Bully”, loin d’être ma favorite au départ, cette chanson complètement folle s’est révélée très intéressante au final. Cela faisait un petit bout de temps que je voulais faire un clip sans animation avec juste des images fixes, Je me suis donc inspiré du travail de Jeff Wall et la manière dont il raconte des histoires dans ses photos, mais aussi des comics, des romans photos et des années 80. Au final en mélangeant tout ça, voici une histoire constituée de 3500 photos détourées composées ensemble pour créer un semblant d’espace. Un travail de fourmis, ne me demandez donc plus jamais de le refaire :-)
Here is a new video, I did for Paul Steel an English pop singer. It was a small budget video, but super free creatively. The concept was to create music videos with 10 different directors for the 10 songs of his new album. Passion Pictures took the project and several directors like Chris Hemming, Thomas Hicks, Dan & Jason, Dimitri Stankowicz etc… worked on it. I have been given the “School Bully” song, not my favourite one, but a crazy funny one to work on. I wanted to try to make a video without any animation since a wild, just by using still images, so I naturally looked at Jeff Wall’s work and the way he was telling storiess in his photos, but also comics, photo novels, and the 80’s universe. So I tried to use all this references to create a stories with more than 3500 photos, all cut out and composed together In order to create a feeling of space. It was so much work, so never ask me to do it again :-)

DANDELIONS
Juste un petit article pour vous annoncer que “Dandelions” a gagné le prix de “Best Motion Graphics” au festival “le 60″ à Cambridge et a aussi été séléctionné à Onedotzero. Ca fait toujour plaisir (◕ ‿ ◕)

QUEENS OF EGYPT
Voici quelques photos de l’exposition temporaire « Reines d’Égypte » à Monaco, sur la quelle j’ai travaillé il y a quelques mois en collaboration avec Cyril Cohen sur la partie graphique. Les thématiques de cette exposition étaient le statut des femmes, celle de la famille royale, leur cadre de vie, leur rôle religieux, les emblèmes attachés à leur représentation, sous les différentes dynasties Egyptiennes… soit plus de 250 œuvres sur environ 4000 m2. Here is an oldy from few month ago, but I just recieve few photos from this project I was working on. I worked on the graphic design of an exhibition “Queen of Egypt” in Monaco. The theme was queen, womans, Royal familly statu during the Old Egypt dynasties .Over 250 pieces comming from around the world, presented in a 4000 m2 exhibition. (scenography : François Payet)

GREAT
Je suis trop fainéant pour vous faire un résumé de Pictoplasma NY, donc je dirais seulement que c’était génial, plein de gens sympas, des belles fêtes, de beaux films, de belles présentations. J’étais aussi heureux de revoir tout mes amis : Peter, Lars, Anna, David, Sam, Philip, Fons, Motomochi, Oishi, etc… Bref je ne peux pas tous les nommer, donc je vais finir en vous donnant le lien vers les photos de Pictoplasma pour vous montrer à quoi ça ressemble. SAVE TOTORO FOREST
Bon vous connaissez mon amour pour la nature et surtout Totoro, donc je ne pouvais que vous parler de ce projet dans le but de sauver la forêt de Totoro. Le “Totoro Forest Project” est un projet caritatif international dans le but de sauver la forêt de Sayama, connu sous le nom de forêt de Totoro. Ce sanctuaire en dehors de Tokyo a été le lieux d’inspiration du fameux personnage de Hayao Miyazaki. 200 illustrateurs internationaux (animateurs, illustrateurs, réalisateurs, etc…) ont donc participé au projet en créant des oeuvres pour l’occasion. N’hésitez donc pas à faire un tour sur le site et par la même occasion faire un petit geste.
You know how much I love nature & especialy “Totoro”, so I could not talk about this great project to save Totoro forest.Totoro Forest Project is an international charity effort to save Sayama Forest, also known as totoro forest. This endangered sanctuary on the outskirts of Tokyo is where Director Hayao Miyazaki got the inspiration for his much loved character “Totoro” Over 200 international artists from illustration, animation, comics, etc… are donating artwork especially created for the cause.
